How to size art for a sofa wall
Share
The most common question we hear is also the simplest to answer: what size goes above the sofa?
The rule
A piece (or a grouping) should cover roughly two-thirds of the sofa's width. Too small and it floats; too large and it overwhelms the room.
By sofa length
- Two-seater (up to 160 cm): one 50×70 cm piece, or a pair of 30×40 cm pieces hung side by side.
- Three-seater (180–220 cm): one 61×91 cm piece, or a triptych of 30×40 cm pieces.
- Sectional or long wall: a grouping — mix two or three sizes rather than one oversized piece.
Height
Hang so the center of the piece sits roughly 15–20 cm above the sofa back — close enough to feel connected to the seating, not floating near the ceiling.
Still unsure? Our four sizes — 21×30 cm, 30×40 cm, 50×70 cm, and 61×91 cm — are built to work alone or in a grouping, and every order ships with hanging hardware included.
